• Detroit man convicted of threatening Sheriff's daughter

57 year-old Sanford Lee Martin of Detroit will be sentenced on October 22nd for threatening the daughter of Sheriff Lane Perry but he's not expected to serve anymore time. Martin has been in jail awaiting trial and has already served more time than federal guidlines call for.

He was caught leaving voice mails at the Martinsville Bulletin, the Chamber of Commerce, and other places threatening the Sheriff's daugther because he believed the system was not treating his son fairly.

Carlos Santana Morris, Martin's son, was convicted of crack cocaine distribution and firearms charges and sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison.

Martin, who grew up in Martinsville, said he believed police had set his son up because he was black and was not convicted of a fatal shooting that occurred 5 years ago.
