• TV40 normal schedule expected to return Monday

Many of you watch our syndicated programming on TV40, most of which is taken from the Galaxy 23 spacecraft with a 12-foot dish here at our studios. You have no doubt noticed a degradation in picture quality and at times the picture simply disappears completely.

The network has confirmed that the satellite itself has been on the blink and they have been conducting tests this past week to hopefully resolve their problem. In addition to the network's issues, our engineer has been conducting tests here at Martinsville Media. It was his conclusion Thursday that the signal we are receiving from G23 is approximately half the strength of other satellites we use. The culprit... a tree whose tallest branches are now encroaching upon the line-of-site between our antenna and the satellite.

On Friday we set in concrete a new pole and on Monday intend to relocate our dish to a new location without any obstruction.

Hopefully, if the network is able to resolve their problems by the time we resolve ours, we will be able to resume our normal broadcast schedule as soon as work is completed on Monday.
